LHU makes its first appearance in the QS Asia University Rankings

As higher education becomes increasingly integrated internationally, global rankings have become an important basis for universities to benchmark their quality and shape their development strategies. Marking a new step in its international integration journey, LHU has made its first appearance in the QS Asia University Rankings, placing in the 1201–1300 band among Asian universities. This is not only an important milestone in international benchmarking but also provides additional data for the University to further improve the quality of education and research, and strengthen its international integration.

The QS Asia University Rankings is an annual ranking of higher education institutions in Asia, published by Quacquarelli Symonds (QS) since 2009. The ranking uses various indicators to assess university performance, including academic reputation, employer reputation, teaching conditions, research productivity and impact, international research networks, international faculty and students, as well as student exchange activities. These indicators provide higher education institutions with useful references to compare their performance with other universities in the region and identify areas for further improvement.

International benchmarking: Supporting LHU's development strategy

At LHU, internationalization is approached as a process closely linked to education, research, staff development, quality assurance and expanding cooperation with universities, organizations and businesses abroad. In this process, international benchmarking provides the University with a basis for assessing the level of international integration in its teaching and research activities, its ability to connect with international academic networks, and the conditions needed to develop an internationally oriented learning environment.

LHU's participation in the QS Asia University Rankings is part of this overall strategic direction. The indicators and benchmarking data help the University identify areas of positive performance, gaps that need to be addressed, and areas requiring priority investment. This provides the University with additional information to support the planning and implementation of quality improvement measures in the coming years.

Expanding international learning and experience opportunities for students

For students, the value of internationalization should be reflected in practical learning and experience opportunities. Expanding international partnerships and connections creates more opportunities for students to take part in student exchanges, academic exchanges, intercultural activities, business cooperation programs and projects involving international partners.

Through an internationally oriented learning environment, students have opportunities to improve their foreign language skills, intercultural communication, professional skills and ability to adapt to diverse working environments. This is also part of LHU's direction to gradually turn partnerships into meaningful experiences, helping students strengthen their capabilities and readiness for international integration.

Strengthening academic and research connections for faculty members

For faculty members, internationalization expands opportunities for academic and research cooperation. They have more chances to connect with international colleagues and research groups, take part in joint research, publish scientific papers, exchange academic knowledge, develop training programs and participate in cooperation projects.

These connections allow knowledge, experience and approaches gained through international cooperation to be shared and applied in teaching and research activities at LHU, thereby contributing to better education quality and a stronger learning environment.

Using ranking results for improvement

LHU's approach in international rankings as a benchmarking activity provides information to support quality improvement. Therefore, its placement in the 1201–1300 band in its first participation is considered an initial reference point for the University to continue analyzing data, identifying priorities and monitoring changes in the coming years.

The value of participating in rankings lies not only in the position achieved but also in how the University uses benchmarking results to improve education quality, develop research, expand international cooperation and create more opportunities for students and faculty members. This is one of the foundations for LHU to continue learning, improving and strengthening its connections with the regional and international higher education community.
