"Computer Networks: Security and Systems"—Connecting Knowledge and Practice for IT Students
To equip students with in-depth knowledge and up-to-date trends in network administration and security, the Faculty of Information Technology at Lac Hong University successfully organized a workshop at Hall A301 on April 5, 2025, with the specialized topic of "Computer Networks: Security and Systems."
Speakers:
🔹 Mr. Vo Quoc Thuan
– Affiliation: Quoc Thuan Co., Ltd.
– Title: Cybersecurity Expert, International Training Lecturer & Specialist
🔹 Mr. Le Thanh Tuan
– Affiliation: Official Distributor of CrowdStrike Security
– Title: Software Technical Director - OPSWAT
Practical and Up-to-Date Content
During the workshop, students gained a comprehensive understanding of computer network architecture, important communication protocols in a business environment, and foundational knowledge of network security, including:
Firewall systems to protect internal networks.
VPNs—security solutions for remote access.
IDS/IPS intrusion detection and prevention technologies. Additionally, the program provided useful information on career opportunities in system administration and network security—one of the fields with high demand for human resources—with positions such as system specialist, network security specialist, and corporate network administrator.
Practical Experience Through Attack and Defense Simulation
A key highlight of the workshop was a simulated network attack demonstration and how to defend against it using specialized tools like Wireshark and Kali Linux. Students observed the process of:
Simulating a basic network attack.
Analyzing data packets to identify threats.
Proposing solutions to respond and protect the system. This gave participants a hands-on experience and a clearer understanding of the common risks in a digital technology environment.
Enhanced Interaction – Sharing Real-World Experience
The in-depth Q&A session allowed students to get their questions answered directly by the speakers and hear about real-world experiences in the field of system security from industry insiders. This was an opportunity for students to gain a clearer direction for their academic and future career goals.
🎓 The workshop is part of a series of practical specialized activities organized by the Faculty of IT to connect academic knowledge with professional practice. Through this program, students not only accumulated more specialized knowledge but also developed critical thinking, teamwork skills, and the ability to apply technology in real-world scenarios.
📌 The Faculty of IT will continue to implement more diverse and practical academic activities in the near future. Be sure to follow the Faculty's website and fan page so you don't miss out on these valuable learning opportunities!
