Stepping Out of Hesitation

While participating in the Science and Technology Innovation Festival, Ánh Dương spotted reporter Văn Đoàn from the News Department of Dong Nai Newspaper and Broadcasting, who was preparing to conduct on-site interviews. Initially, the female student felt quite hesitant, unsure whether approaching him directly would disrupt the reporter's work.

Encouraged by Mr. Nguyễn Minh Sơn, Ánh Dương decided to proactively introduce herself, asking permission to observe and assist with the reporting process. Reporter Văn Đoàn's openness paved the way for the student to directly participate in a portion of the workflow.

Ánh Dương’s task at the time was quite straightforward: holding the microphone during the interviews. However, this brief experience helped her realize that professional reporting demands meticulous attention to even the smallest details.

The distance between the microphone and the interviewee, the standing position of the assistant, and movement dynamics on-site all require careful consideration to avoid interfering with the interview. Reporters must also react swiftly to real-time developments while maintaining composure and precision.

Practical Reporting Demands Observation and Improvisation

Through this experience, Ánh Dương learned that an interview involves much more than simply asking questions and recording answers. In a dynamic, fast-paced environment, media professionals must constantly observe, adjust their positions, and improvise according to the situation.

Furthermore, communication style, attitude, and listening skills play vital roles in establishing a connection with interviewees. From her supporting role, the student had the opportunity to observe firsthand how an interview unfolds and gain a deeper understanding of how to create a comfortable environment for subjects to share their stories.

Proactiveness as a Crucial Stepping Stone for Future Opportunities

What Ánh Dương cherishes most after this experience is not only acquiring specific reporting skills, but also the personal growth of overcoming her initial shyness. In reality, learning opportunities in professional environments often arise swiftly and require learners to be ready to seize them.

From a somewhat reserved student, Ánh Dương shared that she now feels more confident communicating in a professional workplace, is more proactive in her observations, and has a clearer grasp of the demands of media work.

This experience also highlights the value of bringing students closer to professional working environments. Through the cooperation program between Lac Hong University and Dong Nai Newspaper and Broadcasting, students gain opportunities not only to observe industry professionals in action, but also to test their abilities, ask questions, and learn from real-world scenarios.

For Ánh Dương, the guidance of reporter Văn Đoàn and the encouragement of Mr. Nguyễn Minh Sơn have become memorable milestones in her academic journey. From a single bold request to offer assistance, the student gained concrete professional experience and took a significant step forward in personal self-confidence.

Proactive experimentation, readiness to learn, and boldness in seizing opportunities serve as essential preparation for students as they progressively bridge classroom knowledge with professional reality.
